Yours, Mine and Mine - "Spongebob Squarepants"

I've finally dug my hands into this episode and honestly... it's not that bad.

The beginning of the episode was definitely the worst part of the whole eleven minutes. Patrick's ignorance and selfishness here didn't come off as funny or interesting in any way. It didn't help that Spongebob didn't stand up for himself which just made the whole ordeal more annoying. I liked the few jokes that were there however such as the one with Mr. Krabs putting up a "Do Not Disturb" sign after accepting Spongebob's money and returning to his office.

After Spongebob wakes up, however, the episode really picks up. The dialogue between Spongebob and Patrick at Patrick's rock is really comedic and a ton of fun to watch. It's definitely my favorite part of the episode. The argument between the two is quite interesting and witty to be honest. On a side note, the animation is quite admirable in this section. It really seems on par with the animation from Season 4 and Season 5.

Spongebob soon begins chasing Patrick in what I consider to be one of the most fun chase scenes of the whole show. The way it's paced really sells it for me. As well as that, the joke with Squidward that is told in the beginning of the chase is quite the fun one.

The stop at Sandy's Treedome after that was definitely unnecessary, but it was a good one-off gag nonetheless. I truly admire how Spongebob and Patrick completely ignore the advice given to them by Sandy and continue wrestling around like idiots. It could've been a bit repetitive to have another dialogue-based section of the episode after the great one already had previously in the episode.

After the dud of a joke that was Spongebob and Patrick wrestling for a straight minute, we finally arrive at the Krusty Krab where Patrick decides to eat the toy that was fought over for the majority of the episode. I honestly don't mind any of Patrick's selfishness at this point just for the fact of Spongebob continuing to call out Patrick on the situation. He is absolutely fed up with his idiocy making it not as NEAR as frustrating as it was in the beginning of the episode.

The solution of the episode was a bit predictable but completely passable by my standards. It's a bit bothering that Patrick learned nothing throughout this whole ordeal though. Maybe him not getting a toy in the end would suffice, but either or, it's just a small nitpick. The ending gag was awful for the record. It was just as frustrating as the beginning of the episode.

On the topic of what other animation reviewers say about this episode, I did not mind Patrick's selfishness nor the childish behavior of the two as much as I thought I would. Patrick's selfishness was really only bothersome near the beginning of the episode and the ending of it. On the topic of the childish behavior, it just felt really in-character for these two to be acting like this. It wasn't annoying in the slightest.

Why would you even review an episode of a show, hate it just for one character, and ignore the rest of the episode as if it doesn't exist?

All in all, combining the good comedy, great chase scenes, and slightly annoying character moments, I'll be saying this episode is an...

OKAY EPISODE.

It was very close to getting a good, but the ending of the episode and the beginning really dragged it down for me.
